Get Ready to Participate in Carbonable’s Premium Carbon Removal Projects
Announcement
We are excited to announce the imminent opening of the first Carbon Removal Project’s financing on the Carbonable platform on Starknet.
Please make sure you read the following prerequistes in order to participate in Carbonable’s funding opportunities.
1. Get a Starknet Wallet
What is Starknet?
Starknet is a permissionless L2 decentralized validity Rollup over Ethereum.
-Starknet allows any dApp to achieve unlimited scale for its computation, without compromising Ethereum’s composability and security, by using scalable cryptographic validity proofs — STARKs.
Starknet is developed in-house by StarkWare and powers all our production-grade applications.
Why the need for a Starknet Wallet when I have Metamask?
Metamask and Starknet wallets are both software wallets that allow users to store, send and receive cryptocurrency. However, they don’t operate with the same networks.
Metamask is a browser extension that can be used on any browser and interacts with the Ethereum EVM-compatible networks network. It has an interface that is designed for easy navigation. Metamask has a variety of features such as built-in token swap, ERC-20 token support, and the ability to connect to decentralized applications (dApps) on the Ethereum network. It also provides security for your tokens and private keys by using seed phrases and password protection, and has an additional feature that allows you to set a security pin.
Starknet wallets are browser extensions too, but interact with the the Starknet network which is not EVM-compatible. They provide a more advanced interface that is geared towards developers and experienced users. Thus some features are similar to the one of Metamask but can only operate on Starknet. StarkNet wallets also provide security for your tokens and private keys by using seed phrases and password protection.
In summary, both Metamask and Starknet wallets are software wallets that provide security for your tokens and private keys, but they are designed for different ecosystems yet share similar features through different user interfaces.
Setting up a Starknet Wallet: A Guide to Create Argent X and Braavos Wallets

- Once the “Deploying Account” strip disappears, your Braavos wallet is ready!
2. Fund your Starknet Wallet
How to fund your Starknet wallet?
Funding a wallet on a blockchain network is necessary in order to have the required balance to pay for transaction fees and to be able to send and receive assets on the network.
You will find here a step-by-step tutorial to fund ********an Argent X wallet. This tutorial can also be used to fund a Braavos wallet.
We thank Argent X for creating this tutorial. Here is summary: https://www.argent.xyz/learn/how-to-create-an-argent-x-wallet/
Four different ways to fund your Starknet wallet (Argent X or Braavos)
- Buy crypto with card or bank transfer using Ramp or Banxa
- Bridge crypto from another network to Starknet using StarkGate or Orbiter Finance
- Send crypto from an exchange like Coinbase, Kraken or Binance using LayerSwap
- Fund a Starknet wallet account from another Starknet wallet
1 — Buy crypto with card or bank transfer in Starknet wallet
Argent X and Braavos have partnered with two leading crypto on-ramp providers - Ramp and Banxa - to provide a quick and easy way to purchase crypto with your local currency.
Please follow these steps:
- On Argent X, tap “Add Funds”, then choose “Buy with card or bank transfer”
or
- On Braavos, tap “Deposit”
- Choose either Ramp or Banxa
- Enter the amount you want to purchase, then complete the payment flow for Ramp or Banxa
- Once you’ve paid, your crypto should arrive almost instantly
Depending on the amount you want to purchase, you may be asked to complete KYC (Know Your Customer).
2 — Bridge crypto to your Starknet wallet from another network wallet such as Metamask
StarkGate or Orbiter Finance are bridges that allow users to transfer crypto from one network to another quickly, securely and easily.
Please follow these steps:
- On Argent X, tap “Add Funds”, then choose “Bridge from Ethereum and other chains”
- Choose “Orbiter Finance” or “StarkGate”
or
- On Braavos, tap “Deposit”, then choose “Bridge from Ethereum L1”
- You will be redirected to “StarkGate”
On StarkGate:
- Connect your Ethereum wallet, such as Metamask, and your Starknet account (Argent X or Braavos)
- You need to connect both so you can send funds from your Ethereum wallet to Starknet
- Choose the token you want to transfer, here you want to choose ETH to pay gas fees on Starknet
- Enter the amount you want to send to Starknet and confirm the transaction. Transaction fees can vary depending on the network used for bridging. For example, gas fees are more expensive on Ethereum L1 than on zkSync.
- Your funds will arrive in your Starknet ****wallet
3 — Send crypto from an exchange to a StarkNet wallet using LayerSwap
Direct withdrawals to Starknet from centralized exchanges (e.g. Coinbase, Binance) are not yet implemented however it is still possible to withdraw through LayerSwap.
Please follow these steps:
- Open Argent X, tap “Add Funds”, then choose “From an Exchange”
or
- On Braavos, tap “Deposit”, then choose “LayerSwap”
- Choose the Exchange and the amount you want to send ETH from
- Complete the transaction flow (varies based on the exchange selected)
- Once the transaction is confirmed, funds should arrive shortly in your wallet.
4 — Fund a StarkNet wallet account with another StarkNet wallet
If you have funds in another Argent X wallet or Braavos wallet, you can easily transfer them to your desired address.
Please follow these steps:
- Open Argent X, tap “Add Funds”, then choose “From another Starknet account”
or
- On Braavos, tap “Receive”
- You will then see the Starknet address and QR code for the account you want to receive funds
- Use the account you want to Send from (It has to be a Starknet wallet or you’ll lose money)
- Scan or Paste the receiving address in the Starknet wallet you want to send from (make sure you enter a valid Starknet address in order not to lose funds)
- Enter the amount and Confirm the transaction, funds will arrive once the transaction is completed.
